Community Involvement

Drawing on the civic commitment of our founder, Kane Ditto, who served as mayor of Jackson from 1989 to 1997, StateStreet Group is committed to interacting with and improving the broader communities where we live and work.  Beyond our real estate activities, our team members have taken active roles in civic projects such as the Mississippi Two Museums, the renovation of Smith Park, and the formation of the Lefleur East Business Improvement District.  Our team members also routinely serve on and lead local boards and associations such as the Mississippi Apartment Association and the Mississippi Manufactured Housing Association.

Beyond this, StateStreet Group has a deep and longstanding history of support for JDRF, the leading global organization funding life-changing research to cure, prevent and treat T1D.  In the 1990s, Kane and Betsy Ditto co-founded the Mississippi JDRF chapter when their daughter Anna was diagnosed with T1D.  Since then, StateStreet Group has been among the leaders in corporate fundraising for the JDRF OneWalk.  Each summer, our team members band together to begin our annual fundraising campaign for this local event, reaching out for support to a group that includes our valued clients, residents, and business partners.  And each fall, we proudly gather and walk as a team at the OneWalk to acknowledge and support the 1.6 million Americans living with T1D.
